Reference to Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's "A Fool's Life", where is a quote about using a sword with a nicked edge as a walking stick. The quote in the work seems to refer to Akutagawa's struggle with writing due to problems with mental health, pen being his sword that couldn't support him too long anymore after writing the work, as he committed suicide.
